The style of box you choose is a matter of personal taste, but it should be made as special as possible. Many boxes can be personalised with their name, date of birth, or a sentimental message. You can even print a photograph of your baby directly onto the box to create something that is entirely theirs.
Most cribs let you adjust the mattress height; some have three levels, some have more. The higher levels make it easier to take your infant out of the crib, but they′re dangerous when your child is able to pull herself to a standing position. Before your child reaches that stage—about 6 months—the mattress should be at its lowest setting. Bumper pads and large toys can help your little escape artist climb out, which is another reason they don′t belong in the crib.
A black frame will highlight the darker features in your photo and act as a contrast to lighter ones. That’s why it’s best to use a photo with some light and dark tones in a black frame, in order to create a balanced look.
You might opt for a larger rail if you’re co-sleeping and want to keep your toddler in your bed as they transition to their own. Some rails come in pairs to form a safe barrier on the side and bottom of your bed, while you sleep on the other side. Larger rails are also great if you’re transitioning your child to a large bed directly or have a bed in the middle of a room that needs extended protection on all sides. They’re great if you don’t want any gap on the side of the rail where your toddler can climb out. One disadvantage is that the larger the rail, the less portable and adjustable it is.
